An AI video editor for African creators

Updated 2026-11-04. By Oluwasegun Michael, who built Oyacut.

The short answer

Oyacut is an AI video editor for creators and small brands who shoot on their phones. You upload a raw clip, say what you want in a message or a voice note (English or Pidgin), and Oyacut returns a finished video with dead air cut, captions, music and sound effects. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download.

What does Oyacut do to my video?

It cuts pauses, false starts and retakes, adds captions timed to each word, adds music and sound effects, and writes a hook line for the start. It also writes a cover, a caption and hashtags from what the video says.

How do I use it?

Making a video takes five steps and no editing skill: drop your clips (up to 8 videos or photos per video), say what you want by typing or by voice, pick a shape and style or let Oyacut pick, and scratch the card to open your finished video. Then ask for any change by chat, such as cutting the intro, bigger captions or different music.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Oyacut runs in your phone or computer browser, and you can add it to your home screen.

Who built it?

Oluwasegun Michael (@sheg_reeds). It is run by Oyacut Technologies Limited, registered in Nigeria.
