OYACUT Terms of use

Privacy policy

In short

1. Who we are

Oyacut is an AI video editor at oyacut.com. It is run by Oyacut Technologies Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC 9959718). We decide how the personal data described here is used. You can reach us at support@oyacut.com.

This policy follows the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

2. What we collect and why

Your email address

When you sign in, we send a 6-digit code and a one-time sign-in link to your email, and we tie your account to that email so your videos come back on any phone. The only emails we send to your account's email are sign-in emails. If you left your email on our waiting list while sign-ups were closed, we keep it to send you one message when Oyacut opens, and nothing else.

What you upload and type

The clips, photos, music, voice-overs and reference videos you upload; the brief, script and standing rules you type; your brand templates and logos; and the videos Oyacut makes from them. We use these only to make and change your videos.

If you speak your brief as a voice note, it is turned into text and the recording is deleted straight away.

Your ratings

If you rate a version of a video, we keep the rating, the reasons you tapped, and the first 200 characters of its brief, so we can see what to improve.

Account and usage records

Payments

Payments are handled by Paystack. You give Paystack your payment details and an email for the receipt; we never see your card or bank details. We keep the payment reference, the amount, what you bought and when.

Cookies and storage on your phone

We use one cookie, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. The app also keeps a few things in your browser's own storage on your phone: the draft of a video you have not started yet, your teleprompter script and settings, unfinished uploads so they can resume, videos you shared to Oyacut from another app until the new-video screen picks them up, and the social post tag above for the length of your visit. These stay on your phone. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

3. How your videos are made

Speech in your clips is turned into text on our own servers. To plan the cut, our AI provider receives the text of what was said, your brief, script and rules, and still pictures taken from your clips (and from a reference video, if you add one). The same provider writes the post text, scripts and translated captions you ask for.

4. Who else processes your data

We use these companies to run Oyacut. Each receives only what it needs for its part:

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

We may share data where the law requires it, for example in answer to a lawful order from a Nigerian authority.

5. Data sent outside Nigeria

Because of the providers above, your data is stored in South Africa and processed in the United States and on Cloudflare's network around the world. We send it only to provide Oyacut, and each provider handles it under its own data protection terms.

6. How long we keep it

7. Your rights and choices

8. Keeping it safe

Oyacut is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Each account can see only its own videos. Sign-in codes are stored scrambled and stop working after a few wrong tries, and the sign-in cookie cannot be read by scripts on the page. No system is perfectly safe; if a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

9. Children

If you are under 18, use Oyacut only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you before it applies.
